Narnia
Later today, I’m going to be finishing up the last of 10 shows of Narnia, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. I’ve been Peter Pevensie for more than 4 months, and it’s been such a blast. I can’t believe how much I’ve grown through this experience. I’ve met so many amazing people as a result of this show, and I’ve learned so much about expressing myself on and off the theatre stage.
I’ve learned that devoting time to other things while spending every weeknight in rehearsal is one of the most difficult things in the world, and I’ve learned just how rewarding it is to keep doing those things anyway. I’ve learned that working and doing school doesn’t work with an extracurricular as large as theatre is, but it’s something you can push through. I’ve learned how blurry your days get after several all-nighters in a row.. and I’ve learned that if you do it right, you’ll have friends that’ll be there for you no matter what, even if you keep making those same silly mistakes.
I’m so glad I was able to do all this. These shows have been incredibly stressful and anxiety-causing, but they’ve also been such a blessing. I can swing a sword now and not look like a complete idiot. I can project and hit the back of a stage without ruining my vocal cords. I can also describe the complete anatomy of a human heart forward and backward, but I think I learned that at a different point along this semester..
Anyway. Narnia, thank you so much. I’ve grown so much through all that this magic has given me. Once a king in Narnia, always a king~
